cityicons are created by digital artist Flørian Rauscher based in Vienna, Austria. A digital nomad, graphic designer, web developer and musician who loves traveling and exploring cities all over the world.
During the COVID19 pandemic, like many others, he of course was held back and felt the urge to reconnect with his passion in another way.
By creating unique 3D coins celebrating popular cities and their beautiful landmarks he reclaimed the thought lost feeling of wanderlust and reawakened his childhood memories of joyfully collecting precious items.
While deepdiving in the crypto space on his spare time and in thinking, that these good vibes could brighten the mood of likeminded crypto, travel and digital art enthusiasts, he made his cityicons available to the whole world as non-fungible tokens (NFT's) on the Polygon blockchain for everyone to own, collect and trade.
What's a NFT?
NFT stands for non-fungible token. Non-fungible tokens are digital assets that are used to represent ownership of a wide range of unique items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files.
Each NFT contains distinguishing information and unique properties that make it both distinct from any other NFT and easily verifiable.
What are cityicons?
cityicons are 3D animated coins in gleaming gold and silver, displaying an engraved picture of a popular city's landmark, the city's and the landmark's name and the exact coordinates in longitude and latitude. On the back there is the cityicon logo as well as a hidden message in binary code.
While cityicons are available as NFTs (ERC1155 Token Standard) at opensea.io, the available amount is limited to 100 per cityicon, so more people can own their favourite city.
